IHC rejects plea against Veena Malik

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected the plea filed against actress Veena Malik saying the pictures were published in another country so she cannot be tried here in Pakistan, Geo news reported.

A petitioner Wednesday had moved the IHC against Zahida alias Veena Malik contending that she should be tried under article 294 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for obscene acts, article 124-A for sedition, article 140 for wearing garb or carrying token used by soldier, sailor or airman and article 500 for defamation.

Justice Muhammad Anwar Kasi of the IHC heard the case in chamber and fixed the hearing for Thursday told the petitioner Salim Ullah Khan. The petitioner told the court that Zahid alia Veena Malik did a naked photo shoot for an India-based male magazine FHM. Naked pictures were printed at the cover page of the magazine and also carried at the e-edition of the magazine.
The petitioner contended that the conduct of Veena Malik is controversial and shameful for everybody in Pakistan and it should be stopped.
According to the petitioner, inscription of ISI at the Veena Malik's arm is a violation of section 140 PPC that prohibits wearing grab or carrying token used by soldier, sailor or airman.
